The working group for Digital Origination and Digital Pre-press shaped up the qualification based on the outputs of the last SGB meeting. The notes are rough but published here for reference.

The working groups made no significant changes to the matrices and unit standards. These workings are now being converted to document form for the final approval at the SGB meeting on 8 and 9 November 2005

In the meantime we have worked on the level 5 qualifications. We did a through analysis of the purpose statements and unit standards and have made a preliminary allocation of unit standards. Some adjustment is still required:

  • There are too many electives
  • There are still some overlaps in come of the skill areas

The big question now is, do we contextualise the chosen unit standards or can we use them as is? Please have a look at them and give us some feedback before the SGB meeting.

Since level 5 is less about the specific production technology there is a case to be made to use the standards as is and make the comment that they should be contextualised.

The spreadsheet and all the unit standards have been uploaded. The spreadsheet shows:

  1. the exit level outcome and assessment criteria mapping to the unit standards
  2. the proposed matrix (fundamental core and elective) with hyperlinks to the relevant unit standards
  3. the proposed list of unit standards in NLRD order with hyperlinks to the relevant unit standards
