Q-Africa 2005
2005-11-30

Suddenly SAQA is trying to determine if and, if yes, how it should include professional qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework.

The DoE , CHE and various imported academics have been trying to marginalise this type of learning for a long time. For those who have been working in the NQF field it has progressively become apparent that the NQF in South Africa is now a framework of teaching - and not of learning.

This paper is focuses on the learning logic of occupational qualifications (including trade and profession) within a coherent framework of learning. Click to download:

Quality assurance 2005-17-10

Anecdote Concerning the Death of Enterprise by Quality Assurance

Not a paper but a parable.

The story is based on a friend's experience and modeled on one of those by the master story teller, Heindrich Böll, titled Anecdote Concerning the Lowering of Productivity.

Given the way that the practice of Education and Training Quality Assurance is being implemented by high- and low-level bureaucrats who have little interest in the development of people, this story offers a salutary lesson in the real value of quality assurance when it is misdirected.
